Deer Fence and the Expanding Universe
Today is the best day ever. Today we extend the deer fence to entirely surround our back yard. The new portion of the deer fence will replace the worn wood fence with missing slats that divides our property from our neighbor's.
Our deer fence is wire mesh with wood posts, topped by a sturdy piece of timber. It's high enough to keep wildlife out and our dogs in. What I like most about the deer fence is that it is virtually invisible. I can enjoy all the open space around me (and not have to take care of any of it). The deer fence expands our universe.
It's a great day for the dogs. Maybe not so much for the jack rabbits who nest behind a corner of that wood fence.
Picasso (our little dog and great explorer) will be especially thrilled. He's stationed himself at that corner of the wood fence for a couple of weeks now. What he'll do when he can see the jack rabbits, who are as large as him, is the subject of another blog.
